I Just Made My First Color Fine Art Photograph

Lets call it for now "Love in the Rain (London, 2011)."

I mainly shoot B&W, even when the image starts off as a color image. I've struggled for years to figure out what a color fine art photograph in the street/documentary tradition would look like.

I think this is it. Made with a Panasonic LX-3. I love it.

Great mood - love the blues.

I made the switch in 2002 and never really looked back to BW.......Now that I teach Photo I - I'm thinking of returning to the darkroom from time to time...

Laura, many thanks for the encouragement and support. I apologize for not getting back to you sooner on your comment, but I've been tied up finishing teaching our second summer session as well as dealing with the Southern Photography blog.

I'm still having trouble figuring out how to use color. I've learned a lot from your work. I regret we do not have the resources for a lively photography discussion around here. We all seem to be a bunch of loners.

I really like it. I too struggle with color and fine art. I see that people can make fine art with it, but as for myself, I find it terribly difficult. you did a beautiful job here. Happy to have found your blog.

thanks,
Jill
